NEW LIFESTYLE: New LifeStyle is a web-based teaching and learning program funded by a grant from the National Cancer Institute to the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. The site is designed to help students, educators and the public learn about weight management issues as they relate to patient health and to the compassionate delivery of health care. More.
HEALTH CAREERS INSTITUTE AT DARTMOUTH: The Health Careers Institute at Dartmouth offers a college-like immersion experience for rising 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. Sponsored by the New Hamphire Area Health Education Center at Dartmouth, the Northern and Southern NH AHEC’s, and Dartmouth College the HCID web site provides on-line student applications and more.
The Dartmouth Institute
Starting in 2008, The Dartmouth Institute undertook a complete overhaul of its web presence. Working with the Director of External Communications, we created eight inter-connected web sites serving the Institute and its seven Centers of Research. Each Center had specific site requirements and the entire project included a permission-based, custom content management system.
The scope of the project included:- Scoping and defining the project requirements.
- Providing all front-end web page designs/layouts.
- Working with strategic partner on the back-end programming requirements – including custom content management system with multi-media uploading capabilities – and end-user interface
- Extensive project management for multiple stakeholders at the Center level and the Institute level.
- Coordinating all work product from outside partners.
New Lifestyle
The researchers at Wake Forest University’s Department of Family and Community Medicine received funding to create both a public and a proprietary site to assist medical students in their understanding about obesity, the links between obesity and cancer risk, and obesity’s impact on patients.
The scope of the project included:- Collaborating with the research team on the project outline for their grant.
- Working with students in focus groups to assess their needs/desires for the on-line modules.
- Scoping and defining the project requirements.
- Providing front-end page designs/layouts.
- Working with strategic partners on the programming requirements - including a custom content management system and a front-end user interface
- Coordinating all work product from outside partners.
- Creating and implementing pre-launch testing and focus groups.

Health Careers Institute at Dartmouth
High school students from around the Northeast are eligible to attend the annual Health Careers Institute at Dartmouth. The New Hampshire Area Health Education Center at Dartmouth required a website that would attract rising high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors and provide them with the tools to apply on-line. The scope of the project included:- Scoping and defining the project requirements.
- Providing all front-end web page designs/layouts.
- Working with strategic partner on the back-end programming requirements – including custom on-line application data capture – and front-end user interface.
- Creating and implementing pre-launch testing.
- Coordinating all work product from outside partners.
